Can anyone help me find out why my laptop can run battlefield 3 on medium at 50 frames but can only run tf2 on liw at 10? I used to be able to run it but suddenly the fps makes the game unplayable.

If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

Specs:

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

AMD Athlon 2 P340 Dual Core Processor 2.20 GHz

4 GB RAM

Windows 7 Home Premium

Download the latest DirectX from Microsoft's website and the latest driver from AMD. Ensure the game is full updated, no unnecessary background programs are running (antivirus scans etc), OS is updated via Windows/Microsoft Update.

Another thing not immediately noticed amongst notebook users is power management controlled by third-party applications, which force the system to only work up to a certain threshold. Normally using an AC adaptor while playing games negates this effect but I'd recommend using either the Balanced or High Performance power plan via Control Panel, and possibly uninstalling any other power management software.
